Our Treatment Options
Three distinct approaches to Thai massage, each designed to address different needs and preferences. Choose the session that aligns with your current state.
Return HomeOur Approach to Thai Bodywork
Traditional Thai massage draws from several healing traditions including Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine, and Buddhist meditation practices. The techniques involve assisted stretching, rhythmic compression along energy lines, and gentle rocking motions that encourage the body to release held tension.
Rather than working muscle tissue through kneading or friction like Swedish massage, Thai bodywork uses sustained pressure and passive stretching to gradually lengthen shortened muscles and mobilize joints. The practitioner uses hands, forearms, elbows, knees, and feet to apply pressure, always observing the client's breathing and body response to gauge appropriate intensity.
Sessions take place on a padded floor mat rather than a massage table, which allows for fuller range of motion in stretches and gives the practitioner better leverage for compression work. Clients remain fully clothed in loose, comfortable garments throughout the treatment.
Each session begins with a brief conversation about current physical state, areas of concern, and any recent changes in health or activity level. This information guides the practitioner's approach, though techniques are continually adjusted during the session based on what the tissues reveal and how the body responds.
